MA's Mulching Explanation

Mulching is inorganic or organic material.  When people mulch; the main aim is to kill weeds and grass.

The first benefit of mulching is it stops weeds and grass from taking nutrients from the soil.  It does this by killing weeds and grass.

The second benefit is that it keeps plants clean.  It stops slugs and snails from killing the plants.

Another benefit is that it keeps the soil just at the right temperature since it can keep it warm in Winter and cool in Summer.

At our school, native trees have been planted and mulching is done regularly for the benefits given.  It will also help the plants keep moisture over the long Summer break.
